Family fun
Some of my favorite childhood memories are about taking a short break from the rigors of life and going away for a long weekend with the family. We had a small Avion travel trailer and we would use it a few times every year to take the whole family on a trip.
I can remember taking it one year to Gettysburg during a spring break. It was unseasonably cold there, and even though we had the heater cranked up as high as it would go, we were still freezing! Then there was a Christmas break down to the some islands off of the coast of the Carolinas. I can’t remember at the top of my head what the name of the islands were; I just remember how my parents had the smallest artificial Christmas tree I’ve ever seen perched on top of the dining table!
My parents modified the trailer so that one of us actually slept in the bathtub, one of us on top of the dresser in the bedroom, one of us on a cot in the kitchen, and two of us on the sofa-bed, while my parents slept in the double sized bed in the bedroom! Looking back, I think my parents were crazy, but I have to give them credit for trying!
Happy Mother’s Day
Today I’m taking Mom out to eat at her favorite restaurant – The Golden Corral. We’re going to go around 3pm, hoping to beat the biggest crowds. What Mom loves about The Golden Corral is that it is an all-you-can-eat buffet that actually has good tasting food! And she loves being able to take just a little bit of this and a little bit of that, instead of having to order from a menu and being limited to only three things on your plate. The only thing I don’t like about going to an all-you-can-eat buffet is that you can’t bring leftovers home! I never feel like we get our money’s worth! Mom always brings a plastic food storage bag with her so she can tuck a dinner roll or two in her purse to take home! I’m always afraid that someone will accuse her of stealing, but luckily no one has yet! I wonder how many other people do that!
Fore!
As I was explaining in a previous post, Bob and Marsha have invited me to join them on one of their upcoming Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations. Since I’ve never been to the East Coast (and by that I mean the Atlantic Ocean seashore) I thought it would be fun to join them!
I have been looking at the various Myrtle Beach Golf Packages and found some that will let you reserve your tee time at the same time you reserve your room! I think that’s pretty good customer service, don’t you? One of the things that I hear is so special about Myrtle Beach Golf is that you could play a different course every day for a few months and never play the same course twice!
I’m a little bit nervous about it though, I’m not a very experienced golfer! I’m going to have to check around and see if I can find a pro to give me some lessons so I can Golf Myrtle Beach without looking like a real idiot!
Trendy Little Girl Clothes
I’ve bought my niece’s some clothing by jellycat and barefoot dreams before. They are both well known brands that always have great trendy unique boutique style clothing to offer kids today. Having little girls are so much fun, all the dressing up, the hair, the nails, the make up and all the rest of the girlie girl things that we all enjoy participating in. I’m fortunate that my sister had all girls and I’ve been able to be close to them all these years. They always know that I’ll be there for them and I spoil them rotten.
Apparently appaman is a brand that has some cute clothes for sale at lou lous corner website. They offer free shipping for orders over $65 and they are having one heck of a sale right now that I’m going to take advantage of real soon. My youngest niece will be turning 2 next month so I’ll be purchasing some new clothes for her for the occasion. I have fun shopping for little girl clothes. When they were all babies I had a blast buying all of the baby clothes and the tiny little shoes were always a blast to look at. Who doesn’t get off on little tiny baby shoes?
Golden Years
My dad would like to take my mother out to dinner for Valentine’s Day this year. Last year he was too sick to do much of anything. This year he is feeling much better, I just hope he continues to keep getting better without any major set backs in the near future.
My dad isn’t one to use the computer, so he has asked me to do a bit of research online and see if I can find a nice place for him to take my mom to and to go ahead and make reservations in an effort to get it all taken care of, done and out of the way. One less thing to worry about.
The Internet is a perfect solution to finding businesses, instead of the old fashioned way of using the paper version of the local yellowpages. I can do a local search and find just about anything that I need right on my laptop. There are many new restaurants popping up all over the place this past year and my dad would like to try one of them on Valentine’s day so I’m setting out to explore the local restaurants to see what I can come up with that will please both of their tastes and their expectations as well. I have my work cut out for me, but I don’t mind. It will be nice to see them get out of the house, just the two of them for a nice dress up occasion. It seems lately that they only go out together to doctor’s appointments and hospital visits, that’s no way to live. They are in their “golden years” and they should be enjoying their lives at this point.
