New to website creation
My cousin has been talking about starting her own business in the next couple of years. She actually has a good idea for a non-profit organization that is going to be helping people who have served time in jail for non-violent crimes. The ex-cons that don’t have friends or family waiting on the “outside” to help them get their lives back together will be able to come to her business and get some help. She’s talking about building a large campus with dormitories and apartments on site. I would love to help her out with her project, but she lives hundreds of miles away from her.
I was reading a webhostinghub review about how easy it is to create a small business website and thought that maybe that is one way I can help my cousin from afar – I could help her with her website. I’ll offer to set it up for free and help her out that way. I’m sure that will be a relief for her. Now she can focus on her fund raising and picking out a location for her business and all of the other hundreds of decisions that need to be made when you plan something that big and great!
There’s really no excuse anymore
I’m constantly amazed by how many people tell me that they don’t get Internet at their house. One of the reasons that they give for not having Internet is that they say that the only option for them is slow dial-up. I have to admit that dial-up is not as fast as satellite internet is, but if that was my only option I would certainly take it! The first several years that we had Internet at our place the only option was dial-up. I really didn’t mind how slow it was. At least until I saw how fast it could be through other methods!
We depend so much on the things that we use the Internet for in our modern lives that I’d have a really hard time imagining not having it as part of our daily life! I think we’d seriously have a withdrawal of sorts without it! We use the Internet for sending emails to keep in touch with friends and family. It is so much easier than trying to call them on the phone because our work and sleep schedules are so out-of-sync with each other it’s hard to reach each other! And we play games, watch shows, shop and do our banking online. It has certainly become a major player in our lives!
Waiting on Uncle Sam
I’m thinking of using some of my tax refund check to purchase some nice new quality Luggage. I’ve never owned anything other than suitcases that I’ve picked up at yard sales and thrift stores throughout the years. I do plan on doing some traveling in the near future and I’d like to be able to pack my belongings in a decent set of Briggs and Riley Luggage or possibly some of the Hartmann Luggage that I’ve a lot of lately.
I’m sure that if I take my time and look around on the Internet that I could find a sweet deal on some luggage online. I’d be looking for free shipping and a site that accepts PayPal as a form of payment for their merchandise, that is always helpful. There isn’t a big rush, but I’d like to go ahead and start researching them in order to have a few websites bookmarked for when I do receive this much anticipated check from good old Uncle Sam. I sent the paperwork out a few weeks ago so it shouldn’t be too much longer. It would have gotten here faster if I had sent it electronically, but I elected the old fashioned paper via the U.S. Post Office. Maybe next year I’ll try it the faster way.
Alice
I took the afternoon off and took my two nieces to the movies to see the new Alice in Wonderland movie. They enjoyed it, I though it was OK, but nothing to brag about. Johnny Depp does a wonderful job, as always, but there just seemed to be something missing that I just can’t put my finger on.
I’m glad that they enjoyed it and that we got to spend the afternoon together. After the movies I took them to the Burger Kind that has the kids playground inside, which let them burn off some of that energy that most kids are blessed with!
Getting help is getting easier
When I was in high school, my math teacher asked me to be a math tutor for a couple of students that were struggling with algebra. I agreed, and tried my best to help them, but the logistics of that proved to be difficult. The school discontinued the late bus, so we couldn’t stay after school for the tutoring sessions. So one way or the other, some-one’s parent had to provide transportation for one of us to get to and from the meeting spot. Since I wasn’t getting paid for the work I was doing, my parents were loathe to run into town so often to pick me up from a freebie session.
That’s why I think it is great that students now can get free online tutoring. The online tutor doesn’t have to worry about trying to merge two student’s schedules and arrange for transportation. As long as the student has access to the Internet, then the student can get the tutoring help he/she needs. One thing is for sure, getting help with school work is getting a lot easier in this information era!
