Advising others on trips
I seldom plan anything without checking the Internet first. That especially goes for planning trips and vacations.
I’m a member and regularly visit dozens of sites that specialize in travelers’ reviews but I rely mostly on TripAdvisor. Its system is super simple, but quite effective and there are so many users on there that I can also look up other reviews that users have written so I can trust their reviews based on what they thought of other sites and destinations I’ve gone to.
I regularly write reviews myself of attractions that I think are really outstanding or absolutely horrible. I also like to include video clips of trips to give the other users better ideas of what they’re getting into and the reason I reviewed something a certain way. I recently decided to Get Wild Blue so I could upload these easier and watch others’ videos too that dial-up wasn’t loading or playing at a decent speed.
Since then I’ve gone on a few weekend trips with friends that I’ve reviewed a few destinations for but I try not to get too crazy. Writing those reviews are pretty time-consuming.
Toilett Paper Commercial
My favorite commercial, comes from a toilet paper company. The first time I saw it, I couldn’t stop laughing because of how funny it looked.
It’s about a guy coming out of the bathroom, telling his wife that they are out of toilet paper. In an instance, you see a toilet paper roll fly up, barely striking the guy at the side of his head while it is flying by. The funny part about this is that as the roll is flying by, it shaves off a section of his hair because of how rough it supposedly is.
In the next scene, he comes out again, asking for another roll. Just to have it puff up into a million fluff balls because it’s too soft this time. Of course, the third time he dares to ask for another roll, hiding by the door, he is tossed the right toilet paper, which the commercial is for and everyone is happy. I just love the first part of the commercial, where he has a strip of hair missing after the paper roll zooming by.
I’m glad I have cable tv, where I can just record my favorite shows, and commercials to my DVR to watch over and over again.
Country Safety
This guest post compliments of Carlene Schlesinger.
Living out in the country, on a private dirt road, with only a few neighbors in close proximity, you would think a neighborhood watch would be useless. Instead, it is probably the single most useful tool to preventing any of our homes from being broken into or other crimes form taking place. Choosing to live outside of a gated community type of setting allows freedom, but also comes at a cost. With no private security in place, and the State Police over 30 minutes away, neighbors need to band together to keep the area safe for the families that live here.
Taking turns with the neighbors, we patrol the area every few hours, and have come across some very interesting situations that were reported to the police. We don’t follow a set schedule, and you may find two or more of the families out at the same time, but there is almost always someone watching out.
There are a few “party houses” in our area that draw large crowds on weekends. Because of this, we’ve installed motion detector lighting around the entire house and garage, and a home alarm system, to warn us if anyone is trying to get in the door. I feel safer knowing that if something happens, the door alarm system is there as another layer of protection.
Using Landscape to Privatize Your Home
Thanks to Molly Bloom for the guest entry.
A few summers ago, I worked in Beverly Hills, California. I was a nanny to a very prestigious family and watched the kids everyday, after the parents went to work. When I first got this job, I remember being surprised by the large bushes surrounding the home. At first, I could not even find the right address to the home since it was tucked away so far behind large bushes. In this article, I recommend landscaping as strategy to build a home security alarm system within your own home.
Large bushes are a great way to protect your home, I have learned. They can securely tuck away your home so that no one can even see it. For high-profile people, large bushes can protect homes from people like the paparazzi. The family I worked for in Beverly Hills used large bushes to refrain the paparazzi from taking unnecessary pictures of their home. Along with that, they also had a fancy ADT Security system complete with video cameras and the whole nine yards.
While I am not famous, I have chosen to surround my own home with large bushes. I live on a busy freeway, and I simply enjoy the privacy that smart landscaping has brought to my home. I am glad that people driving by my home can not see an inch of my private space. Landscaping makes my own life feel more secure and my home feel safe.
Beginning of a new day
I sort of dreaded getting out of bed Sunday morning. I knew I was on a path to learn something from a friend that could benefit me in the long run though, so I trekked on up to her house in the hills of the Piedmont to start class.
Throughout the day, I think I was more fascinated by her other talents, rather than learning what she had to teach me on the computer. Her talents and imagination are uncanny. From the way she painted tulips on a toilet to match the blinds and curtains to the way she used cut-off blue jeans sewn together to form a upper curtain across the top of another window. The twisting of the ropes through the belt loops and the red bandannas poking out of the rear pockets were just amazing. The imagination she has is just something to behold. It takes a lot of talent to paint flowers on clothing and can lids for ornaments.
This woman has it all, talent and imagination and more energy than carter has little pills. She is just in a class of her own.
