The Colbert Report on Comedy Central
I was watching my daily dose of the The Colbert Report on my Direct TV satellite TV the other night and it occurred to me that many people might actually take Stephen Colbert seriously. Democrats will find this show so overly and exaggerated republican that it is almost a ‘point and laugh’ at republican type show. It wasn’t until the other night that I thought republicans might just find the show highly amusing as well.
Much like Bill O’Reilly, Stephen Colbert almost mocks and criticizes his guests. Often playing an overly republican roll, Stephen Colbert’s blunt and sometimes controversial comments could be misconstrued by a Republican as actually being facts.
There has been much news media coverage about this show. Often this coverage contains criticism for Stephen Colbert and The Colbert Report however, the show continues to grow it’s following. Stephen Colbert will sometimes report on this news coverage in an almost obscene way. He strikes down anyone that opposes him with “off the wall” assumptions on the report’s character. The Colbert Report and Stephen Colbert first started as a part of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Stephen Colbert would often play a correspondent reporter. Now Stephen Colbert has his own show. While The Daily Show tends to be more news worthy it is important to note that it is much like The Colbert Report in its comedic style of report off the wall news stories. While most Americans claim they don’t have time for the news these types of shows are growing in popularity as they do give some political news coverage in a lighter setting then watching a full time news station. I can imagine we will see more of these shows in the feature.

It will be interesting
I’ve been hearing so many people complain that they don’t want the Obama health care plan – they are afraid of change. When I was watching The Today Show today and they were explaining the benefits of the plan, it seemed to me that it was a good plan. I don’t understand why anyone would be against those benefits! I heard that several states are suing the federal government over it. It sure will be interesting to see what happens next!
Our Armed Services & The Cha Cha Slide
The Internet has become a very useful and valuable tool for our troops over seas. I have a buddy who is serving time over in Iraq who sends me an occasional email. This time he sent me a video that cracked me up enough to where I had to share it here with you. Our Marines doing the Cha Cha Slide!
He should be coming home some time this year. It will be good to have in back in our town all in one piece. We have lost too many young men all ready from our community due to this latest war.
Have you ever had a friend that sends you obnoxious emails
I have a friend who continues to send me obnoxious emails touting his political views (different from mine naturally.) I have asked him repeatedly to stop sending me the emails, yet he continues to do so. I really don’t want to end the friendship, but it is getting tiring to open emails from him that seem innocent enough only to find that they are political rants. I don’t send political emails to him; I try to be sensitive to the fact that we have opposing political views and like each other anyway. What would you do in a case like that?
Gas Going Up Again
It was awful when we had to endure those 3 and 4 dollar gas prices last year. I was really relieved to see them going down for awhile to tolerable levels.
Over the past two weeks the prices at the pump are on the rise again. I know its Summer and more people are on the roads for vacations and such but the corporate oil companies need to give their country a break.
If they would leave gas prices alone for awhile they could help the economy because more people would be willing to buy their products and it would spur the economy on to more positive territory. People wouldn’t be afraid to get out and look for jobs or go on longer vacations if they weren’t afraid of not having enough funds to cover the cost of gasoline.
Maybe if we could get more people to go mass transit it would send a message to the oil companies that the American people would like them to sit up and listen. Help with the situation rather than taking money out of the pockets of people that deserve it.
