New to website creation
My cousin has been talking about starting her own business in the next couple of years. She actually has a good idea for a non-profit organization that is going to be helping people who have served time in jail for non-violent crimes. The ex-cons that don’t have friends or family waiting on the “outside” to help them get their lives back together will be able to come to her business and get some help. She’s talking about building a large campus with dormitories and apartments on site. I would love to help her out with her project, but she lives hundreds of miles away from her.
I was reading a webhostinghub review about how easy it is to create a small business website and thought that maybe that is one way I can help my cousin from afar – I could help her with her website. I’ll offer to set it up for free and help her out that way. I’m sure that will be a relief for her. Now she can focus on her fund raising and picking out a location for her business and all of the other hundreds of decisions that need to be made when you plan something that big and great!
The Colbert Report on Comedy Central
I was watching my daily dose of the The Colbert Report on my Direct TV satellite TV the other night and it occurred to me that many people might actually take Stephen Colbert seriously. Democrats will find this show so overly and exaggerated republican that it is almost a ‘point and laugh’ at republican type show. It wasn’t until the other night that I thought republicans might just find the show highly amusing as well.
Much like Bill O’Reilly, Stephen Colbert almost mocks and criticizes his guests. Often playing an overly republican roll, Stephen Colbert’s blunt and sometimes controversial comments could be misconstrued by a Republican as actually being facts.
There has been much news media coverage about this show. Often this coverage contains criticism for Stephen Colbert and The Colbert Report however, the show continues to grow it’s following. Stephen Colbert will sometimes report on this news coverage in an almost obscene way. He strikes down anyone that opposes him with “off the wall” assumptions on the report’s character. The Colbert Report and Stephen Colbert first started as a part of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Stephen Colbert would often play a correspondent reporter. Now Stephen Colbert has his own show. While The Daily Show tends to be more news worthy it is important to note that it is much like The Colbert Report in its comedic style of report off the wall news stories. While most Americans claim they don’t have time for the news these types of shows are growing in popularity as they do give some political news coverage in a lighter setting then watching a full time news station. I can imagine we will see more of these shows in the feature.

Lesson learned?
Interesting debunk – but I think the REAL lesson here is this: Don’t say you are going to reprimand the film crew until they have stopped filiming! LOL!
I do like his parting quote – “Love with your heart, use your head for everything else.” That is good advice!
Teaching kids about gardening
Some of my fondest memories of my childhood revolves around visiting my grandparents. It was such a treat to spend a month with them every summer! I’m sure my parents enjoyed the break too!
We helped Gramps with the livestock. It wasn’t work when it was with Grandpa – it was an adventure! He let me ride with him on his tractor from time to time, which made me feel really special! We helped to feed the chickens, and get the eggs out of the nests. We got to play with the kittens and puppies, and feed the ducks.
I can remember the time when Grandma had us help her to repaint her window boxes. She liked to give them a fresh coat of paint every few years. After we painted them all, we were each “given” a window box of our own to plant and tend. She took us to the farmer’s market where she let out pick out the seedlings that we wanted for our gardens. She showed us how to fill the bottoms with broken flower pots and gravel, then planting soil, and then put in the seedlings. Then more soil, some decorative gravel, and some little figures of elves for an extra special touch. She let me put my GI Joes in my window box, and let me pretend that they were on a jungle mission.
Every time I see a window box now, I get a melancholy feeling for the old days back at the grandparent’s farm. Those were the simple, good old days!
Full moon
I was noticing the moon as it was rising this evening. There is always a time of the evening when the moon looks enourmous. I’ve heard and read explanations about why it looks larger but that it really isn’t larger. Suggestions are made about using a pencil’s eraser to prove it. Well, I admit I’m lazy, and I’ve never tried it but I find it hard to believe it is an optical illusion. Maybe one night later this summer I’ll look up the details of it and try it out. What do you think – is it an optical illusion?
