Eye doctors

I took my mother to the eye doctor last week.  Her eyes seem to be failing pretty fast as she ages, and I like to make sure that she gets the eyeglasses that she needs so she can keep doing the things that she loves to do – her knitting and crocheting and other needlework.  As she ages she finds herself sitting more than ever and she likes to keep her hands and mind busy.  She used to always say to me “Busy hands are happy hands” and “Idle minds are the devil’s workshop.”

I’ve noticed over the past few months that Mom’s vision seems to be getting worse, she is wearing stained clothes that she didn’t pretreat because she didn’t see the stain, either before OR after washing it.  So off we went to the eye doctor.  The doctor said that Mom has a large cataract in her right eye, and a lot of small ones in her left eye.  And her prescription has changed since last year, so the eye doctor wrote her a new prescription.  He suggested that she go to frame selection part of his office and pick out a new pair of glasses.  I asked him to please put on the prescription the pupillary distance between her eyes so that we could buy the glasses from Zenni Optical – a website that sells inexpensive glasses.  I don’t begrudge this guy the right to earn a living, but Mom is on a tight budget and can’t afford to pay the high prices he charges for glasses!

It will be interesting

I’ve been hearing so many people complain that they don’t want the Obama health care plan – they are afraid of change.  When I was watching The Today Show today and they were explaining the benefits of the plan, it seemed to me that it was a good plan.  I don’t understand why anyone would be against those benefits!  I heard that several states are suing the federal government over it.  It sure will be interesting to see what happens next!

Talking It Up

No “Fat Gene” going on here, thank the good lord for that blessing. But I am surrounded by numerous folks that are desperately trying to lose weight and I feel for them. It must really suck not being able to eat what you want, when you want it and constantly having to deal with all the issues that are entailed with weight problems.

There are so many products and diets to try these days. The Internet can certainly be a useful tool for this issue as well. The Slim In 6 promises that you can lose 25 pounds in 6 weeks and can be found at Extremebodyworkout.com. They also offer the Power 90 program and all the products that are available to get the job done.

A co worker of mine stumbled onto this web site and has been talking all about it at work. She seems to be doing well with it so far, which is pretty cool. She is now trying to get a bunch of us together to do their Insanity Workout, the more the merrier as they say. I’m up for it, I don’t need to lose the weight but all of us could use the exercise for heaven’s sake.

I thought it was only country!

I decided to do some youtube searches for line dancing and found quite a few videos on it. I was surprised to see several videos that showed line dancing to songs that aren’t country! I only watched a few, but I particularly enjoyed this one. Maybe I will take some classes after all!

Line Dancing

Sue wants me to sign up for line dancing classes with her.  We’ve gone to a couple of pubs where country music was playing and folks were line dancing to the music.  She wanted me to get and dance with her, but I really didn’t feel comfortable about that.  I rather feel like I have two left feet!  But Sue has been rather persistent, and she found a place where we can go for hardly any money to take classes.  I have to say it looked like fun, so I think I’ll humor her and sign up for the classes.  After all, I’ve heard women LOVE men who can dance!
