Invisible fences

I’ve always wondered about the logic behind the invisible fences in people’s yards.  Every dog I’ve ever had I simply trained them to stay in the yard with the use of a leash and my pair of legs.  You walk the dog around the edge of the property, using a training collar and leash and when you approach the property line you give the leash a tug and say “no.”  You do that a few times and the dog learns to stay in the yard.  I’ve never had any trouble at all – ever – with training dogs that way.

Seems to me that invisible fences are an expensive alternative to just spending a little time and effort one-on-one with the dog.  If I didn’t have the time to train my dog, I don’t think I’d have one!  And to be honest, I’d rather have a REAL fence to keep unwanted critters OUT of my yard than an invisible fence keeping my critters IN my yard!  And I’ve known a few people who say that their dogs are so stubborn that they just run right through the invisible fence anyway.  Just seems to me that my money is better used in some other way than on an invisible fence – at least for now!

Myrtle Beach, Fun For All

Wouldn’t it be great to take my tax refund and take off and spend some time at one of the awesome Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Resorts that we all hear so much about. When you Google “Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Resort” you get an eye full that is for sure. But the one that really impresses me is The Avista Resort which is located in the North Myrtle Beach area and has everything one could want for a great time.

If you are into playing golf this Myrtle Beach Resort has plenty to take care of those needs. They have a very user friendly website that makes planning an event like this a much easier task. I like easy. Apparently Myrtle Beach attracts over 13 million visitors annually and has something for everyone.

Who knows, I still haven’t had my taxes done. I know, April 15th is right around the corner. I tend to wait for the last minute in most things in this life, my bad. I have a few weeks left, but the weather has been so great I find myself distracted with outside chores and fun. But I can tell you this, if I m pleasantly surprised with what H & R Block has to say I’ll be check online to see what Myrtle Beach Resorts I can hook up with.

Kero sun

I have a kero sun K1 heater that I use in my garage to warm it up when I’m working on my cars and trucks. I really am glad that I have it – it has seen a lot of use! But I got a bad can of K1 the other day and it is nasty! I haven’t quite figured out what I’m going to do with it. The machine smokes something awful now! I’m going to have to clean it somehow and dump out the bad K1 and replace it with good K1. This is a major annoyance – I’d like to think that when I buy K1 that it will be good quality!

Renovations

Sometimes I think that doing the renovations to the old farmhouse are never-ending.  As soon as we finish one project, there seem to be two more that need to be done!  Part of that, of course, is that when we rip out something that we hope will only need to be replaced with something newer we find that whatever is under or behind it needs to be repaired or replaced first!

I sure am glad that I bought my cordless drill a few years back; that has earned it’s cost several times over!  And I’m glad that I finally replaced that old work bench that was rotting out with a new sturdy one.  The old one was getting to be a safety hazard!  This new one will probably outlast me!

Michelob’s Original Lager

I’ve always enjoyed the taste of Ying Ling’s Lager and haven’t found another Lager that I really care for until a buddy of mine came over this weekend with a cooler full of Michelob’s Original Lager. I have to tell you that I was impressed with it and found it worthy enough to post about it here. The only problem that I could find with the Michelob’s Lager version is that it takes a bottle opener to open the darn thing instead of being a twist off cap like what we all have become accustomed to using these days. It took a while to find a bottle opener around the place but once we found one and cracked one open it was worth the effort!
