Starting A Long Weekend
It ended up being an extra long weekend for me. As soon as I got up out of bed on Friday, I took care of logging onto the internet and emailing myself off for the day due to a medical concern, sent the email off to the office, and went back to sleep. Or at least I thought I would go back to sleep.
Before I logged off another email popped up on my screen. It was from another job application for driving a bus for another county. I was requested to call them asap. I took the hint and called. They wanted me to come down there immediately to file the paperwork and get everything situated for start of class coming up in in a couple of weeks.
No rest for the weary! I got ready and flew on down to take care of the paperwork. Wow! The paperwork to go through to be a bus driver is awful but I guess where children are concerned, it pays to be cautious about who they are hiring to transport them.
The paperwork ended up almost complete. They found an error between my social security card and my current drivers license that would need to be corrected before I could enter class down there. On my driver license its states I am a JR. On my social security card it states I am not, but it is signed with the JR in my signature.
I hope the fifty miles I drove to get that corrected will be worth it. The office in Culpeper confiscated my old card and I should expect the corrected social security card in the mail within two weeks. Now, to the world, I am not my father.
Moms Diabetes
I think mom took it all in stride for the most part. She enjoyed having all three of her sisters up to visit. Despite moms complaining of her bunion hurting and her constantly saying she feels funny and needs to eat all the time. The day went very well.
I had to take care of some things for Sunday and wouldn’t be able to get down there to the farm but told them I would come down, most likely, on Monday morning.
Mom does not understand that just because she feels funny is not a sign she has to eat something all the time. She will test her sugar levels with the meter and think the higher the number, she should eat something. We keep telling her she cannot eat anything but she needs to get an insulin shot if she goes over a certain number predetermined by the doctor. It started out at two milliliters of insulin for every fifty points over one hundred fifty, but now if the level is under two hundred fifty we do not have to give her shots of insulin anymore. Of course if it drops below one hundred twenty she will have to at least eat something, and if it goes over the two hundred fifty level we would have to measure the insulin at the regular two milliliters for every fifty over one hundred fifty. Sounds confusing but its not.
Gas Going Up Again
It was awful when we had to endure those 3 and 4 dollar gas prices last year. I was really relieved to see them going down for awhile to tolerable levels.
Over the past two weeks the prices at the pump are on the rise again. I know its Summer and more people are on the roads for vacations and such but the corporate oil companies need to give their country a break.
If they would leave gas prices alone for awhile they could help the economy because more people would be willing to buy their products and it would spur the economy on to more positive territory. People wouldn’t be afraid to get out and look for jobs or go on longer vacations if they weren’t afraid of not having enough funds to cover the cost of gasoline.
Maybe if we could get more people to go mass transit it would send a message to the oil companies that the American people would like them to sit up and listen. Help with the situation rather than taking money out of the pockets of people that deserve it.
Household and Personal Items
I do not know if I shared this in the past or not but when I go to the store to restock on household and personal supplies I tend to stick with brands I trust more than going for brands that are the cheapest.
In the cleaners category I tend to stick with Comet, Lysol, Dawn, and Cheer liquids. I stay clear of too much bleach. I am highly allergic to bleach if it comes into contact with my skin. And the smell is very irritating to the nose.
As for personal items, I stick to Degree, Dove Soap and Shampoo, Cottonelle Bath Tissue, Crest Pro-Health Cinnamon Toothpaste, and Pro-Health Rinse. I don’t use the disposable razors because I found they were getting too expensive. I went ahead and invested in a Remington Electric Shaver. It save time and money, lots of money.
Overall, I tend to not skimp on quality when it comes to personal and household items. On rare occasions I will buy the cheaper brand and test it out but for the most part I will stick to things I trust.
Special Pets
I just finished reviewing a pet video documentary from petcentric.com about Yoda. He is a black cat someone brought into a bar in a cage to try and find a home for him.
The only odd thing was is that Yoda had two sets of ears. His vet has stated that something happened to him in his mothers womb that caused the ears to divide into two sets.
Everyone remembers Yoda from the star wars movies I would think. I never watched the star wars movies, nor was ever into it, but once I saw the character Yoda in the film, the cat remarkably resembles Yoda.
This goes to show, many people are so out for perfection in life, the perfect house, the perfect family, the perfect clothes, the perfect pets, and lifestyles, they never stop to think that the most wonderful things in life are not so perfect. So whether they are friends, pets, or material things, it is all the little imperfections that make everything and everyone unique.
Just remember, people, and pets, no matter how different they are or look, have a lot to offer to society. Their contributions to the world are great. Acceptance of diversity is futile if this world is to continue to evolve!
